Need help and or advise on finishing someone else's top..

I agree with those who say to finish it as it is, maybe a narrow border or even just some binding? It appears that she had a wonky look on purpose.
Several years ago I finshed 3 quilts for a woman my husband knew at work. Her twin sister had passed away leaving 2 teenagers & her parents. I never knew her so didn't know what she had in mind & she was a beginning quilter. I just used the finished blocks as they were, didn't add anything except backing & batting. The family loved them.

I agree, do your best to square up and don't worry about it. Put the "story" on the quilt label along with all the other regular info.

It is important for your uncle that you finish this quilt. The fabric says school teacher. My guess is that your aunt
talked about this quilt and your daughter to your uncle. Make her dream come true. Border her quilt, show it to your uncle finished and give it to the intended.....

PlEASE,PLEASE DO NOT TAKE A STITCH OUT OF YOUR AUNT'S QUILT. It is the love that has been put into it that is important--not the stitches.
I wouldn't even border it. I would just bind it (uneven and all)and love every inch of it.
Years from now it will be the most treasured quilt that has been handed down over the generations.
