I am impressed with his ability to express his opinion so you know exactly what he is thinking/feeling!

The most impressive part is that in your parenting you have created a safe and important place for him to be free to express his opinion and he knows you want to hear it.

Tact can be taught and somehow I get the feeling that he is a quick study.

Good job, mom!

Phew - glad to hear the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey used to say. The thread title had me almost steaming before I read the message, lol. Wondering who would have the nerve!!! It's really a cute story though, and a good opportunity to explain not only the front from the back and how things go together, but how to make a tactful but true comment without hurting somebody's feelings.

Oh the honesty of children, you have to love it. I'd rather have that than the deceptive practices that some folks develop as they age. Children tell it like they see it, tact is something they learn because we are suppose to teach them to respect the feelings of others.

Ha ha, kids are so brutally honest! Last school year after I got a fresh haircut, one of my first grade students, a boy, asked me with a pained expression, "Is that how you wanted your hair to turn out?" NO COMMENT!!
