Our Maltese, Joey, loves to lay on the quilts I'm working on if he can. If I'm working at the sewing machine he will just lay on the bed near me. When I'm on the computer, he is on the floor nearly under my chair. The other day I laid my current quilt project out on the bed to see where I neede to go with the FMQ and I had to lift him off 3 times so I could continue working on it. Such good company!

My darling kitty Chyna has discovered that when I have a quilt rolled onto my longarm frame, it feels like a hammock when she jumps onto it and lays down!! She loves being near me when I'm home working on a project and never misses an opportunity to "help" me work on a quilt!

As my dear Aunt always said..."Quilts are cat magnets!"

If I'm in my sewing room, the cats are there...and lately our dog joins us. I think its a combination of them wanting to be in the center of our attention (companionable is a nicer way of thinking of it) and also a nesting instint. My cats love to find a "defined" space rather than being in the open. That may be whatever fabric I'm working on, fabric on the floor or laid out anywhere in my work space, etc. Outside of the sewing room, they choose a rug, a bag on the floor, whatever. But the sewing room is their favorite.

Happens at my house too...and also when at friends houses...we call it being "cat approved" when they like our quilts.

My cats get jealous of the attention I give a quilt, and so want to be in the thick of things when I work on one. There are also all those neat play toys, like thread, pins, bobbins, and things to test gravity, like pencils and scissors. The ironing board is a wonderful place to rest, especially after it has been used.

When my cats were younger I'd have to use my rotary cutter when they napped! Almost trimmed claws inadvertantly once!

Gotta love 'em!

because they are not supposed to lay on them , my cat always lays on things she shouldn't be on, it gives them joy to be naughty i think

Our dog, Miss Bess, lays on the blocks while I am figuring them out on the living room floor. She follows how far I have gotten on them to the point that she is laying on the quilt when I am binding the edges. Then I let her lay on the whole thing and that's it! It is off to the washing machine!!!!!

Love our dogs! Edie

Because they are cats, all of whom have the built in capability to find the most comfortable spot in the house!
