For this quilt I use the method of needlemarking and made some templates out of cardboard.

I prefer a #11 John James Betweens, but from time to time I also use #11 Roxanne. They are both wonderful to quilt with, very stable and with a sharp needle tip.

The designs I used here are very traditional quilting designs often used in British Wholecloth quilts. I own several books about the British Quilting tradition and fortunately the books have many pictures in it. Very often I have to re-draw the patterns and make templates or stencils out of cardboard. These quilts from Wales or the North Countries are my favourite inspiration for my own work and I love to use the traditional patterns.

Of course it depends on the patterns and the design, but in general I need 3 to 4 months to finish a quilt in a size of 75"x75".
