Well I know those are the quilts that I do finish, but they sort of stay home and many times in the closet. I have a couple I am working on. I try to never leave an unfinished quilt. At this rate of trying to have perfect 1/4 inch seams I will always be quilting. Hopefully one day I can make a quilt with perfect seams, but then I will have to work on other areas.

Well.... my 1/4" seams were always off... so decided that I needed a machine with constant feed dogs (always in contact with the fabric).. Believe me, it does really help, as I'm closer now to perfection...

BUT... buying a more expensive machine doesn't fix the problem as I'd hoped. My seam ripper is still fully employed...

signed... Still Struggling

some fabric stretches more than others. If you use steam and/or iron (instead of just pressing) the seams, sometimes the fabric gets distorted. May also be a reason to prewash. Also, I have less problems with higher quality fabric

take your time

learn to tug a bit, scrinch (my own personal term) a bit to make seams line up

use pins (I don't but I am not that particular about my seams)

press seams the so that they lock when you put them together.

In the end, remember that quilting is supposed to be fun!

Hi Pat, welcome from northern California! I am so new to quilting that I can't really offer any help.
