We have them coming out at night here, too. Did you know that Alaska is trying to ban bird feeders??? Because the bears like to eat the seeds!!!!! Our neighbors got a night camera and caught a bear working at getting into their birdfeeder!

YIKES!! A lady was attacked by a black bear a few weeks ago at 11:30 at night while walking her dog. I live in northern Arizona. Unfortunately, she died a couple of days ago. A very sad story. But because of our wild fires that we have had, there isn't alot of food for the wildlife, so they come into town looking for it.

How wonderful!
Knowing you have "neighbors" like that helps prevent unexpected "encounters".
They were there before we were, so we're the ones who have to be the good neighbors, and it looks like you are well on your way.

I too, had a late night visitor....It was a 300-350 lb black bear. He was on the patio, 'playing' with the grill!!!! His new nickname is Greasy Paws. He left prints on the patio. He was about 6 ft, plus or minus 6 inches on his back legs. He is a beautiful cinnamon brown!!! We saw him last year, at the top of our property in Colorado. Very beuatiful.
