    Hello Charlee,

    No, it hasn't got a metal cover for the side compartment, but the grooves are in the base to take one. I don't know whether it had one and it was lost, or it never had one in the first place. Seeing as it dates from 1940 perhaps this was an economy measure.

    I love the wooden cover on your compartment. My 1916 99K has exactly the same base and case.

    I just love these vintage sewing machines. I really enjoy looking at all the pics you all have posted. I have more than 20 working vintage Singer and Necchi sewing machines. I will try to post some pics soon. I hope this thread will remain open for a while longer so more can post their pics.

    1st pic is touch&sew needs some work sews good straight stitch but the zigzag won't. 2nd pic is 99-13 needs new wiring & manual but can't find one if anybody has a clue to find one please help me out. 3rd pic is my hines 57 singer

    but look @ the 1951seal, i didn't think singer made vib shuttle in52 machine. it sews real nice

    Yep. Looks like they had leftover seals....or Singer got the dates wrong for that serial number...

    My Raymond. Made in Guelph Ontario in about 1915 as the bill of sale from the T. Eaton Co. was from December of that year.
