I miss those shows too. I wish they would have some quilting and crafting shows. I am also sick of remodeling/redecorating shows. Many people cannot afford this during this current economy.

We don't even watch HGTV anymore - too much of the same thing. I think they are trying to lure the younger generation with what they offer now. I really miss AA & Carol Duval. It is thanks to Carol that I can cut almost perfectly round circles!

I spoke with Kay Woods at a sewing/craft fair here in Denver 2-3 years ago. She told me it costs too much for them to continue taping shows for tv. Thankfully there is still a few here in my area. (a lot of reruns). Sewing With Nancy, Fons and Porter, Quilt in a Day and Quilting Arts (still have new shows). I do miss Simply Quilts, I think it was the best.

Ditto! And I like remodeling shows. But miss the sewing and quilting shows. And don't get me started with what happened to Carol Duvall's show!

HGTV and Food network both stink.
No longer worth watching anymore.
I use to watch them all the time. :(

  Me too! They do what they want, not what the people want. Some days it is impossible to get a recipe on Food TV. And I miss Alex, Carol Duval and all the sewing shows on HGTV. If I owned a bulldozer I might be interested in the shows they have now. Big disappointment!

Back when they cancelled all of these shows, a bunch of quilters sent e-mails voicing their concerns. I read their response somewhere and basically they said they were gearing themselves toward more "Do It Yourself" shows.

I used to enjoy the home decorating where most of us could actually get some ideas. Now you have to be spending thousands of $$ to redecorate or remodel like they do. What happened to inexpensive ideas like most of us could do without hiring contractors?
I did find a few quilting/sewing shows on PBS lately.
