I've heard horror stories about quilters loosing tips of fingers, slicing off edges of fingers, dropping cutter on bare feet. Has this happened to anyone out there :!:
Yikes! Hasn't happened to me yet. I have F & P gloves, but never use them. Guess, I better think again.

Thank goodness, it was not bad. No, it never happened too me with a rotary cutter. I did cut the tip of my left pointing finger where it was kind of hanging while cutting up celery. Had to have stitches, and it was not fun. Took the doctor over four hours to give me six stitches. Now I am very paranoid about cutting. I have one of those suction things you use with the rulers.

First lesson at lqs using rotary cutter it slipped off ruler and ran along my index finger and sliced it open from finger tip right up to main knuckle, left with finger wrapped in tea towel, have a very healthy respect for them now

I have the suctions handles in 3 sizes. Just got a small one at Harbor Freight Sat. They have the big ones for $7. Mine was a lot more from BEd, Bath & Beyond.. My sister got her daughter one of the big ones, she's just getting starting to quilt and knows nothing about the rotary cutters. I will have to give her a good safety lesson. I love the handles. Don't worry so much now..

Ouch! I sliced the side of my left thumb off. Took forever to heal. Now I'm much more careful.

Not with a rotary cutter, but I did slice off the end of my left pinkie while cutting cantaloupe. You'd never know because it looks perfect, except that it's a little shorter than my right one.
