That's exactly what I did. Named her after his wife....Jeannie.

I am going to sit down with her this weekend and start some cleaning on her. She does sew but needs a GOOD cleaning. And she doesn't look as bad as the picture shows. Been doing a lot of reading about FW. Found out that she was made in 1954. I did not get a manual with her and if anyone knows where this can be found, please let me know.

Sheesh......I am so new to this FW stuff. I have my first machine that I bought in the late 60's and need to get that out and take a look at it. I think it is a Needlecraft.

Never really thought about "collecting" old machines but I may have found a new hobby to go along with my quilting one.
You can get a free copy online but I don't have the address handy. I'm sure someone on the board has the address handy.

    Hello Ladies,
I am new to this forum and would like to add a comment about the FREE featherweight machine. Yes, that is a FIND! Quilters prize them for the consistently straight stitch and easy portability. I have seen them listed on e-Bay for as much as $1,000. But that one had a free arm, which is rare. If you are interested, you can get the serial number off the back and look on the Singer website where you can find what year it was made, where, and how many were made. Enjoy your find!

Wow! I'd love to find a reasonably priced (under $150?)Featherweight and am beginning to think that that's almost impossible, but I keep looking. And you got one free, no less! So there's hope!
