It seems that steam shrinks my blocks. Am I doing something wrong? Should I starch all my quilt blocks including borders?

I really like that Best Press, stiffness without sticky build up. One instructor told us to spray on one side, wait a few seconds but then press from the opposite side. It seems to work very well. No stretching that I can tell.

I seldom need anything but a dry iron during block or quilt construction and when I do, it's just a quick shot of steam. I think it depends how it behaves the fabric! A hug!

spray with water, and usually use sizing or spray starch..

I use sizing at every step, then wash when finished.

I very rarely use the water spray, only when I can't get results through dry pressing. I don't want to risk distortion either. I use a travel iron, and the smaller size makes it much easier to manoeuvre when making blocks.

Just Me...

For smaller blocks, I find I have to Best Press them into submission!

That's the recipe I used - if you need to know the liquid measurements for ounces and tablespoons: 2 tablespoons = 1 ounce.
