Desperate to find a quilter that lives near me.

I have been reading this thread and everyone on the forum has been so sweet. Brandy looks like you have got alot of friends on here.
But I know it is not the same as having them in person, I am in the same boat, just older.
Just keep doing what you enjoy.

Brandy,
Even though I have lived in this town for 25 years, I have few friends & none that quilt. I have a 20 year old daughter & 16 year old son - but at 58, I am a lot older than most moms with kids that age. I don't make friends easily since I am very shy. I understand & sympathize with you & wish you the best in finding someone close.

I feel your pain. I had my kids at the age of 25 and 27 when it was common for women to have their first kids at 35. It was difficult. The best suggestion that I have is to take some quilting classes at a LQS whether you need them or not so that you can meet others with similar interests.
If your kids are in pre-school or school invite kids over for play dates and invite their moms too. It takes a while to relocate (I'm a military spouse) but you will be doing your kids a favor by showing them how to get involved.
There is another quilter from the board in MI. Go to the User List and enter your location. Then send a PM.

Here you go, Luv. I was born in Detroit, so I'm a little bit familiar with your area. Try this link. I found three groups within 30 minutes of you - in Clinton, Mt.Clemens (Macomb), and Rochester Hills. There may be other areas, but it's been a long time since I was in that area.
Go to: http://www.quiltguilds.com/
and simply click on your state. You'll get an alphabetical listing of all the listed groups in your state. There are tons of them!
Good luck connecting with one and please, please let us know how you do.
Hope also that some of our other quilters will avail themselves of this site to get out there and make some good, healthy connections. You go, Girl!
