Hairdressers are required to pay taxes on tips just like waitstaff do WHETHER THEY RECIEVE THEM OR NOT. If you don't tip, you are forcing them to pay taxes on money they haven't even recieved.

it is just you...

most all hairdressers rent the space they use to cut hair..a large portion goes to the owner of the shop. that explains why, when they leave, they take your info with them, they let you know by postcard, where they have moved to. so you will continue to use them, no matter what shop they are at.
some shops require hair dressers to have thier own clientele when they hire them.

same with food service. because they work with food..they make less than minimum wage. they depend on their tips.

at a minimum you should tip 10%.

we tip very well, because we have both worked in the service industry. it is a hard life.

Why do they have to pay taxes on tips they have not received?

It always comes back in spades to be kind to others. ONe day I knew she needed help and I tipped her a 20.. because that extra is what I would have had to pay in another shop and she needed it.
it is more expensive in calif because of the price of land..rent or buying a shop must be out of this world in places like calif!
$15 for a wash and cut in a lot of the franchise cutting places. in michigan.

because the city/state/federal want their cut of the pie..they know you get tips..and they are assuming you get at least a certain percentage.

wait till they start taxing online sales!

The amount that you give the waitress and the amount you give to God are both your choice. Noone is forcing you to only give 10, 15, or 20%.

I beg to differ- some restaurants automatically include a 15% tip with your bill.

As to 10% to God, that is a tithe which means one tenth. It is always our option to give more if we choose. You can't outgive God!

You can differ all you want, but you still have the choice as to where you eat and where you attend church!
