Oh, I so love this. One of my favorite OBW fabrics ever! I love how it turned out with hexagons! I did it in octagons (cuz I do not like making the hexagons ... love how they look, just can't do them ... they make me crazy!!! I know most people like to make them!) I am posting a pic of mine to show the contrast and what I did with the dragon ... hope you don't mind. Thought people might like to see the differences in the two kinds of blocks! Thanks for sharing. I so wanted to see this fabric in a hex! It is awesome!

Wonderful! The red diagonal through the centre is really striking. I recognised the fabric from the book too - I'm glad you're recommending it to ppl - it really IS straightforward if you go by the book, isn't it? And aren't cats great at 'helping' with the layout of OBW blocks?

Karen K - I was just thinking I'd go and look up your octo one to see the difference so thanks for posting it here. :-D I always loved your dragon one and you may remember that it inspired me to finally make an octo one myself but I'm still a hex girl - the octos are more swirly due to the two extra segments but I think the hexes blend better as they interlock - plus making and placing those setting squares for the octos drove me nuts! Each to their own, I guess. :D

Wow Karen K! The octos look fantastic, thank you for sharing yours! It's amazing how the same basic pattern can yield such stunning differences; I especially love how you varied the size of your blocks.

If it was me - I would be doing a happy dance. Love the shades of three colors and the block layout you are showing. I would, however, move one of those dark red blocks so that it isn't that close to and in line with the other one. I would probably put one in about the 4th row and 6-7th column.

I'm not the biggest OBW fan but yours came our really cool! Love it.
