My son bought me a Dyson online and paid about 1/2 price for it. Love it, we have 2 dogs and one cat and it sucks up that hair so easily and empties quickly.

35 years ago I was employed at an electrical wholesaler, and employees got all products for 10% over cost. My husband and I were doing some major work to 'This Old House' so we bought and he installed a Nutone central vac. I shouldn't say this (it might jinx me)but it still works, though we have gotten a new hose and new beater attachment a few years ago.
We even placed an outlet on the covered back porch to use it on the vehicles.
I suppose it has lasted as long as it has because we don't use it as much as other people would. It's vented to the outside, so the neighbors know when I'm using it. I guess that means they know when I'm not too LOL

I have a Simplicity vacuum. It works pretty well. It is 11 years old and still does a good job. I am saving for a Dyson. Have $200 towards it so far. I guess I could sell some of my stash to get some more money. I have several books to sell too.

I've had my Dyson for 5 years and it works as well as the day I bought it. Previously I was buying a new vacuum every year at aroung $60-$80 a pop. The Dyson has turned out to be a best buy for me. Then again I've got lots of critters running around my house.

Me either! It has been worth every penny I spent on my dyson!

We have had a Dyson for 5 years or so, it works great. We have kids and pets, and it cleans well.

We have an older Kenmore upright. We had a Dirt Devil at the office, too. When I got the Kenmore, I had the salesman plug them all in so I could hear them. The Dirt Devils are so loud that I don't use them without earplugs, but with the Kenmore, I can even hear the phone while I'm vacuuming. The noise factor is a big deal with me.

I have a dyson, at the time I bought it we had a Newfoundland. His hair would wind around the roller. I just take a pr. of small sissors and cut it accross and it just pulls right off. love my dyson.

Hoover WindTunnel. Have always had Hoovers and have always liked them --- I like the WindTunnel best though because there are no bags to buy. Tried an Oreck for 10 days and took it back as I simply could NOT push it on a couple of my carpets (deep pile). Forget the Dyson - those things weigh a ton. For getting into tight places and under beds/ couches I also have a little Dirt Devil RoomMate (again, no bags to buy) that is super lightweight and does a fine job.

I have a Dyson and would never get another brand. Bed Bath and Beyond has them and you can use the 20% off coupon on them, so you can get one for about $300.
