What scares me is that some evil doer is going to try something to make a name for themselves tomorrow. That someone will attempt something at ground zero. Every year my nerves get on edge when the anniversary comes around, out of fear that someone will try it again.

I was teaching a first grade class on that day. The kids were at recess and I watched the towers fall on the TV in the staff room. 6 of my kids lost fathers, cousins, uncles that day. Parents started showing up at my door about a half hour later. We had a memorial assembly about a week later. No one told us what to expect and before I knew it I was covered with sobbing kids. It was a very long day, week, month, year. All told, our school all the way on the other side of the country lost 16 people when the towers fell. It was 2 days before I knew that my best friend's husband made it out. It really is everyone's story and everyone's recovery. We won't forget.

I get what you are saying and feeling about anger. I would offer one perspective.
Forgiveness isn't about the other guy, it is about you. Forgiving doesn't mean that you approve or agree with what was done, it simply means that you refuse to live and angry life. If anger changes who we are or changes our lives then the other guy wins anyway.
Anger can be very productive and has been the inspiration for many wonderful actions in response to crisis. It can also turn us inside out. We all have to make a choice about which path we take.
Forgiveness isn't about the other guy, it is about you. Forgiving doesn't mean that you approve or agree with what was done, it simply means that you refuse to live and angry life. If anger changes who we are or changes our lives then the other guy wins anyway.
