Wonderful idea...think it's great...and you get to pick what you would want.

Another thing our family has started doing is including on the back of the stone 'Proud Parents of...' and including all the children's names. This will aid in geneology research at some later time.
My husband had a heart attack and died. My son designed the headstone and put a piano keyboard on my side and a baseball diamond on his side because he started the Little League in our town. He put out children names on the other side and our wedding date. Hope this helps.

I had to help my Mother last year make all her arrangements and do her stone. The Cementery where she will be buried has bronze placks so not much choice but she did the chosing. She is 89 and hope we don't have to follow thru on this anytime soon. My husband is dragging his feet on buying plots and stones. Nothing seems to get him moving in that directions, but I think everyone should design thier own headstones so it shows their life.

I think it would be cool. Which pattern would you choose if you chose a quilt?

I think it's fine. I have two grave sites in Houston and my Sister has three. They were from our Grandmother. she had to sell several but was able to keep some and hopefully I will use one of mine and not stay up here in Colorado forever.
less stress for your loved ones.

My sister-in-law was a marvelous quilter and when she passed away my brother had a favorite quilt block put on her head stone. It is not weird it is to do this now and to put a symbol of your passion on the small monument marker for future visitors to see.

I love walking through old cemeteries and I would be delighted to see a quilt or sewing machine on a headstone.

Just one more worry off the minds of your family when you pass and I think your idea for a sewing machine or quilt on the stone is wonderful. It's your passion in life so why not share that with others after.

agree with all the others it is a thoughtful idea to do for loved ones. Love the "proud parents of" idea. mine will have a quilt block called "3 wishes" on it.
