Perfect choice for colors/fabrics. Like the idea of eyelet or lacy fabric but would have to see how it would work in overall quilt. You are right on target so far. Just go with your intuition. No one should have to put up with being bullied. Hope this lets her know how special she is.

My quilting friend and I definitely like your layout... and your compassion!

I love the fabric you selected and I think she will be very happy with the result no matter what size you make the strips.

I hope her Mom pursues this all the way to the Superintendent of the School district if she has to. My son was constantly bullied in school, it did no good to talk to the principal as she has never had children of her own. He finally fought back and then it stopped. Tell that little girl that she is unique and that no one can ever take that away from her. What a great thing you are doing.

You are a wonderful person for doing this! I had the opposite problem when I was in elementary school (1950's). I weighed only 32 pounds when I started first grade. The big (8th grade) boys used to pick me up and throw me from person to person as they laughed at how small I was. Occasionally they would drop me.

This only stopped when a neighbor of the school called the SPCA--Yes I mean SPCA! Because the school only said 'boys will be boys" and I should stay away from the big boys. Like I was really going up to them to ask for this abuse?!

She called the SPCA telling them it would have been a crime if they did this to a dog; why was it OK to do it to a child.

The SPCA went to the school and demanded the boys stop the bullying. The boys still laughed at me, but they did stop the physical abuse.

I know this little girl will be thrilled (as was I) that someone cared about her!

P.S. The fabrics with the different thicknesses are wonderful. Go with your gut!

The quilt is beautiful. Such a nice gesture on your part.
I really hope someone intervenes on this girl's behalf.

That will make her feel very special. All we can give her is encouragement and love and it sounds like you're headed in the right direction! Your kindness will be rewarded ten-fold. Thanks for sharing.

That is a very pretty combination. Just a thought, maybe you could adapt this idea below, for a little quilted heart to carry in her pocket to remind her that she is lovable?
