The disappearing 9-patch is easy and fun! The top and bottom corners are great for showcasing special focus fabrics (since those blocks remain whole).

Thanks!!
Oh, oh, oh, or how about a zig zag...there is a wonderful tutorial here (without having to make half square triangles)

Hi everyone! I started making a rag quilt! I have enough fabric left over so I'm going to try a D9P too! Here is my rag quilt so far. I still have to sew the seam the whole way around the quilt and then wash and dry it to make it fray :-)

It is darling. You done a great job on it. I noticed you haven't clipped the seams yet. You need to do that to make it fray easier. clip it about 1/2 in apart. Just be careful not to cut into the sewing line.

lol thanks I forgot that part. Should I clip them 1/2 - 1/4 apart or more towards 3/4 - 1/2?
Thanks!

I do mine about 1/2 inch apart. It is your choice how far apart you want to clip. It is just that the closer together you clip will make it fray easier. You will want to use really sharp scissors tho.

Cutting it so it would fray was a huge pain in the butt! I accidentally cut my good fabric twice! I think I need to go buy those special rag quilt scissors! Tonight I'm going to was it and see what happens. I have 2 of those shout color sheets to put in with the blanket so hopefully that bright pink doesn't bleed on to the other fabrics. I'm hoping to have a finished quilt to post tomorrow!
