I say keep up the courage and GO!!!! About 20 years ago I was in the same place. I was scared to death to go to a meeting not knowing anyone there. But I love quilting so much and I figured that the people there would feel the same way. Somehow I found the courage to go to a local quilt guild and my life has not been the same. I made so many nice friends and still have them in my life.

Shannon
What guild are you going to visit? Our guild, CAMEO meets this Thursday Sept 15. I hope it's ours. Let me know and I will introduce myself. CAMEO stands for Come And Meet Each Other. It would be fun to meet someone else on the QB. Chuckbere joined last year from the QB. Let me know where your going.

Go with the attitude that you want to be there and have fun. It's like being here without the computer. I love going to our quilt circle meetings and talking quilting with others and learning what is happening in my area.

A week from now you'll be saying it's one of the best things you did. I speak from experience. The first day is the hardest....after that it's fun, fun, fun!

I am going tonight to my first quilt guild meeting here in this town. I used to belong to another in a different city but since moving here about an 2 hours away, I never got in the habit of going. So tonight is my first night too. I thought when I read about courage that you were getting a root canal !! You will meet people slowly and learn tons of stuff, it will be wonderful for you. I was so surprised at my last group, we had a couple who were young (20's) and Goth. His mother was the President and he liked to quilt also. You will meet young and old, nice and not so nice. But the overwhelming majority of people will be wonderful and so eager to praise you and to help you reach your goals. In time, I think it helps to pick one woman you really get along with and make her your mentor. You will learn so much. Put on your Happy Shoes and be ready.

Relaz and enjoy the experience. Almost everyone was a new person at a guild at one time. Keep us posted on how it goes.
