Lima, Ohio is the birthplace of Phillys Diller...in fact, she graduated with my Grandfather. It's also known as 'Little Chicago" and there is still a large Italian mob presence here. You might also recognize the name from the TV show, Glee, although as far as I know, Lima doesn't have palm trees like in the show ;).

St. Louis, Missouri - Gateway to the West, Cardinals, Blues, Rams, Arch, St. Louis Zoo, really too many wonderful things to remember and not enough space here to write it all. We live about 30 miles outside of St. Louis.

What a great idea!!

My town is known for all the Norwegians. (It's too small to be known for much else.)

Soda Springs is a city of around 3,000 and was a stop on the Oregon Trail. The pioneers would stop here and make use of the soda water from one of the many springs that bubble up here, to help their bread rise. We also have a man-made geyser. In 1937 they tried to locate an underground hot water spring for a community swimming pool. While drilling, they hit cold water that was under pressure from carbon dioxide and water shot from the pipe 135 feet into the air. The geyser had to be capped because it's high mineral content discolored everything. Now it is controlled by a valve which lets it 'go off' every hour on a regular basis. It is the only artifical geyser in the world and a great tourist attraction.
