My favorites are the Ohio Star and the Log Cabin so this was my first attempt. I couldn't get the points to match up because I didn't know about the "scant 1/4" seam etc. and not real good at choosing fabrics so I just used some scrap fabrics to try it. I will learn!
Ok, for us other block newbies, what do we need to know about "scant 1/4" seam etc."??

I think your block looks great and nice fabrics too!

I think you did a great job for your first block. The scant 1/4" will come with practice and so will the points. I've been quilting for over 25 years, and there are still times when I don't get my points quite right. Don't be so hard on yourself, you're doing great, you've taken the first step and that's usually the hardest.
