In San Antonio, both North East and Northside school districts, usually offer basic sewing classes and sometimes quilting in their adult/evening /continuing ed classes. I'd call and see if they have anything starting this fall.

Welcome from Georgia.

You attention to detail from micro will help. The repeative nature will also be familar.

Start with basic blocks and practice 1/4 inch seams. Use the attention to detail on the seam size and your cutting.

If you don't cut even, the even seams don't matter.

Good luck and welcome to the Board. Lots of helpful people here.

Welcome from Minnesota...Enjoy your new addiction! First go to your nearest Quilt Shoop and take a beginners class. Then it is practice, practice, practice. The more you sew, the better you get, just like anything else. Have Fun!!

Welcome from Michigan. Quilting is the best thing to learn when you are retiring. I would take a few quilting/sewing classes before you go off on your own. I think your machine is just fine. I use Singer. I have 3 but they all work fine.

Hi and welcome from Katy! You've come to the right place, friendly people, lots of help and ideas. On YouTube, be sure to check out the tutorials from Missouri Star Quilt Company - they're great. There are lots of super sources online.

Go for it. I just started quilting in January when I retired. I have two totally completed quilts and 3 more in progress. You might want to scope out the vintage machines discussed on this Board. However, you can sure get started with the machine you have. Welcome aboard...this group can teach you an awful lot about quilting.
