what kind of thread do u use for sewing your blocks?

On my Singer I can use Coats and Clarks for piecing but the Bernina says 'no way'. So on my Bernina I use Connecting Threads and it works great. It is linty so I am sure to clean the machine quite often. I would love to use the expensive stuff, but right now I am not. And I never make what I call 'heritage quilts', quilts that are meant to last forever.

Is it safe to say, that the majority of you who use Connecting Threads are using cotton?? I would assume the same about the other brands as well. I have just begun FMQ and have only used C&C poly, which worked great on practice pieces, but I want to make sure to use the best type for an actual quilt.

I recently started quilting and my LQS suggested Mettler so!, that's what I'm using. A little more expensive than the C&C that's I've using for many years just for general sewing but if it will make my quilt last for years and years, I figure it's worth the expense.

skipped stitches are not the thread, it is the needle/thread combo not working![/quote]
I'm sure your right Jacquie. Tell that to my machine, a 50 year old Necchi, (and yes, I do have a newer machine, but always go back to my Necchi!) It gets very cross with me if I use any thing other than Coats&Clark. No matter what needle I use. I'm so used to cleaning it often, that I don't notice lint I guess. Maybe there wasn't all these other nice threads when my machine was born, so it just got used to C&C!

I also use serger thread. If I used the higher price thread
would only be able to buy thread as I use so much.
They showed on the internet one day how they make thread
the expensive thread go down the line between two burners
and it takes the excess off and only leaves the main thread.
They have to charge more when they do extra to the thread.
I have never had trouble with any thing I make.
