My bobbin thread is not always the same color as the top thread.
I incorrectly mix my fabrics in the same quilt. ( Joanns, WalMart and LQS) Oh! The horror!!
I sometimes use a sheet for backing.
I sometimes use dishes, lids or whatever instead of proper templates.
I don't really NEED all the rulers I have.
I don't always follow the pattern.
Bless her well meaning heart, I love her dearly but if she says just ONE MORE thing about my methods or lack thereof, I will beat her to death with my stash.
I sent her the link to this board, she will learn much more here from all of you talented folks.

Just as one size garment isn't going to fit all of us, so one specific quilting technique isn't going to fit all of us either. We each learn from our mistakes as well as our successes. To each her own.

Makes me glad that the elder of my two brothers doesn't quilt.

Why on earth would she think the lid to the butter bowl was not a proper template? Is a plate? The lid to the big Tupperware bowl?

Thanks for the laugh!

Well, now, I buy a lot of my fabric at the same place--------THRIFT STORES. Most of it had a previous life as something besides flat folded fabric.

Ohmygoodness, girl - I'm SURE nobody else on this board does any of those things... EVER! Repent, the end is near! Your next gift to her might be a whistle. Every good policeman needs a whistle.

I agree. BYW, I am guilty of all of those "crimes" and intend to keep it that way. Also, I make no effort to follow anyone's patterns, even my own. To paraphrase a very wise man, the quilt is for ME, not me for the quilt.
