I can see the stitching and I think it is beautiful. Imagine hand quilted! What an accomplishment. Maybe in the right lighting situation the highs and lows of the quilt will show up better thus showing the beautiful design. The stitches never will if its white on white unless one scooches down to really look at it. It's a subtle beauty that you have there in your quilt.

aorlflood, Thank you for your post about the thread because I was so impressed by your wholecloth quilt that I bought one sold on this board and sewed the backing last night and will be basting as soon as I clean my kitchen table. I have not bought my thread so I will take your advise and choose a colored thread. Thank you for you are my inspiration. I still love the white on white but I to love the look of my stitches.

If you are used to seeing lots of color, a whole cloth may seem so alien to you but they are gorgeous and aren't suppose to cry out loud but whisper how lovely they are. I think a color thread would ruin it. It is what it is suppose to be and it's a beauty. Send it my way, don't let it go unloved.

I usually use white for my backing because I love the look of the white stitches on white. I think it's rich.

Ohhh, it is beautiful! Yes, would have been nice in a color that would have stood out. But that doesn't mean that this one is not a beauty in it's own merits. It is gorgeous! Subtle beauty! It will be a wonderful heirloom! Oh goodness, it is so lovely.
