I save them and a friend saves them for me also. I have a large bag of them. I made a really cute snap bag out of some as gifts. There is a selvage website with ideas for using them up.

Don't ever throw them away. I love things out of selvages. I would definately pay postage & even throw in a little gift.

I use mine to make fire starters for camping. Take a cardboard egg crate. Stuff it with salvages. Melt wax. Pour the wax into the egg compartment, leaving a little string of salvage sticking out. Cut the crate into 12 starters. When you go to start your campfire, put one under the kindling and light her up. Works great! Burns long enough to get the logs started. (You can use dryer lint also)

Absolutley I save tem. I have made bags, large & small, placemats. I also use them to tie around the quilts i give away.

saving them to have enough to make something. I read somewhere that some quilters sew the selvage with fabric name etc. onto a peice of fabric. that is their journal of quilting.
