Actually, that pattern is smaller. I use a 3 1/2" square and a 2" square in the corner and I don't bring the points out, I let the next block interlock with the adjoining block.....possibly saw some pinwheel block and did this with it. Sew diagonally across the 2" block and trim to 1/4". It's a really simple block and makes up great quilts.

Also....if you put the strips on the sides, the block ends there instead of joining the next one to form another "flower". The block in the directions is a good guide to making your quilt at least 4 colors. Have fun with it.....I sure have.

Yes, they look very different. Here are mine. The proportions are a bit different, but it's the same block sashed.
