Had the Carpal surgery after months of wearing the braces-some days its good if I stay away from golf & crocheting, but if I try to crochet or golf ( I miss both !)I am done for. Do the exercises and continue to do them, one may have to give up a few things in life, but the outcome is so worth it! Sewing and quilting is one thing I refuse to give up LOL

I waited 10-15 yrs before I had the surgery. Slept in braces nightly and still had pain at times. Had surgery done on one hand on Friday, went back to work typing on Monday. Piece of cake. Scheduled other hand surgery the day I had sutures removed from first hand. Another piece of cake. I would not wait like I did to get it done. You can have permanent nerve damage. Hunt around for the BEST hand surgeon in your area. I have not regreted the surgery once.

Yes and I had surgery on both hands. Someone one here said that itis a nerve problem and she is correct. I got so bad that I could not hold onto things. I wore the braces everynight for 2 years before havong the surgery and they helped a great deal. It is caused from repition and mine would you believe was from picking up and tending to children. lol

The chiropractor works for me. It's just a quick flip of each wrist then I'm good to go.

I've had surgery on both wrists for cts but it was successful. That was several years ago and I've had no problems since. I know you're in pain. :cry:

Get a second doctor to check your arm, I had surgery for carpal tunnel, didn't help ,then I was told I have fibromilga(spelled wrong)which acts like cerpal tunnel in the wrist/arms. I still have the pain worse in the hand that I had surgery on than the other one. I worked at the time . so go carefully with this, the knife is not always the answer.

I had it in both wrists but my right hand was the worse. My little finger and ring finger were both numb all the time. I finally opted to have surgery. At the same time I also had surgery on my elbow. Was told that would relieve the nerve and I would get feelings back in my fingers. I got a little bit of feelings back in my fingers but now my elbow is numb all the time. One good thing came out of it...I don't have the pain in my wrist any more. If you just have the pain in your wrist, I would have surgery but that's must my opinion.

I wore the brace for a year or more. Gardening caused extreme pain in my hand, not to mention the continual tingling in my fingers. There wee nights that the pain was so intense the brace went flying across the bedroom.

I had surgery by a wonderful orthopedic surgeon in March. He did the surgery with some sort of scope. It was painful for a couple of weeks depending on how I moved, but it is now healed really well. Gardening this year was a breeze and only occasionally do I have pain, which may be arthritis. I am very pleased and it was a day well spent to eliminate the pain and tingling.

I have Carpal Tunnel since last spring. After tests done where they hook you up to a computer and needles stuck in your hand they said I did have it. Doctor wanted to have it operated on, but I said no and took the summer off doing nothing with that hand as far as quilting goes. This did not help at all. The middle finger on my right hand is very stiff(frozen), along with the fingers on each side but not as bad. So now have an appointment to see the Doctor for the operation.
My doctor says what happens is the tendon thickens and this is what causes the problem, so they go in and cut the tendon which relieves the stiffness. I just noticed that my left hand is starting to do the same thing. I use it very little, so thinking it also may be part of my osteo-arthritis or some other problem.

Chiropractic works for me, too. Exhaust all options before choosing surgery.
