When I was a child, our family doctor use to tell my Mom that syrup of Coke(that we use to get at our little drugstore/soda fountain shop not the carbonated soda) was good to give us for an upset stomach...my Mom is 87 yrs young and she will still drink a "flat" Coke for an upset stomach...Naomi

Now we know why there was a women's movement. What is sad is that I remember seeing some of those ads (or ads like them) in the women's magazines that my mom got.

I am old enough to remember being told that I needed to make sure I stayed with "women's" courses when I went to a big university in the south -- I had transferred as a math major and upper level courses were not available to women because "they" knew that women could not succeed in math at the higher levels.
