had to get my cats teeth cleaned because he had gingivitis (bad bad breath) and had a few teeth removed. He felt alot better after that. I still have to give him a monthly antibiotic to help maintain them. good luck on the blaster, haven't met a cat that will let you open their mouth and get close without biting you, and I have a calm cat. lots of luck.

Yes, it is very expensive to have your cat's teeth cleaned.

My DD had a beautiful white persian that she took to have his teeth cleaned and while he was under the anesthsia he had a stroke. End result is that he lost his hearing and had a problem with depth perception. Be Careful!

That's high for a cat teeth cleaning. My vet does it for less then half that price. I give four of my outside cats meds by mouth and no problem. I use the pill popper and it works in seconds and no trauma to the cat. None have ever tried to bite me. You hold them up by the scruff and insert the popper or syringe. They automatically swallow.

I give my dog and cats only Blue pet food. No grains and no fillers and no meat by products. They eat less to be full and poop very little.

I would say to go to the fish market and buy some fresh raw tuna. Let the cat chew on that. It is a natural toothbrush for your cat.

I do not let my pets have surgery for minor things like teeth cleaning. I brush my dogs teeth from time to time, have never tried the cat yet. I would definitely try anything.

My 5year old Maine Coon had gingivitis. We tried an antibiotic and greenies, but she ended up having to have her teeth cleaned. With the blood work and cleaning, it was about $300. I'm faithful giving her the greenies after she eats(twice a day) our Maine Coons eat only raw meat. We get it from My Pet Carnivore. It's not cheap, but neither is the high quality cat food. Hopefully the greenies will keep the tarter off now that they're clean. Their favorite meat is rabbit and chicken super mix. On Sunday they get ground turkey necks. All their meat includes bones and organs, plus we add vitamins, egg yolks and salmon oil to it. There is a lot of info on raw feeding on the Internet. I'm sure my cats would not let me brush their teeth.

I have 5 cats and have always put Plaque Off (powder) on their wet food when I feed them. It helps to keep their teeth clean so that I don't have to pay the vet high dollar to clean them. You can find it on Amazon online.

My Cat is fortunate enough to have 'cat insurance'. It is also affordable, so he gets his teeth cleaned once a yr. I think he is almost 12 yrs old now, mostly, long-haired Maine Coon. He has never been sick, has been on special diet food for about 4 yrs now. He weighs 20.2 oz, but the vet doesn't want him to gain anymore weight. I think cats and dogs should have their teeth cleaned.
