What kind of water is best for Rowenta Iron???

I had one for over 15 years and just replaced it with another Rowenta. I've always used tap water as the instructions said and I never have had a problem.

This is a great topic. I also have well water. The manufacturers (spelling??) don't take this in to consideration. Recomendations usually say tap water and NOT distilled water. So what are we supposed to do??

Since we live in a Chicago suburb where many people around us have Lake Michigan water my DH will fill up water from work or else where.

Also have been frustrated with the cost of Rowenta's but eventually they leak... is it the well water or the Rowenta design??

I am trying to use spray bottle but it just isn't the same.

I am frustrated too.

I save the water from my dehumidifier in the summer. Put in clean containers and use that. I have had no problems and have used it for a couple of years.

I felt the same way also bought two rowentas, the first one ended up thrown away, the second one I stored till I could take the time to figure out why it leaked. Never did find out the cause of the leaking but now use it as a dry iron. I love it! When things need to be dampened I use spray, either starch or water.

I've had my Rowenta for several years and all I've ever used in it is water straight from the tap. We have our own well, but do not have a water softener. The hard water has never hurt it -- that iron just keeps plugging along.
