My Rowenta says NOT to use distilled water. Still leaks and spits anyway and it was not one of their cheaper ones. I will not buy another Rowenta.

I have had a Rowenta for 21 years and have used only Demineralized water in it. It still works great.

I had a Rowenta and it all of a sudden started leaking horribly too. I had only used bottled water, never tap. I won't buy one again either.

do NOT use distilled water in a rowenta iron!!!! the directions stress this.use tap water.our water is 'hard',and i have used only tap water for 10 years(yes...i iron often)...and have never had a problem.when i worked where they were sold, every one that was returned, either because it leaked ,or died, they had not read directions, and used distilled water.hope this helps.i LOVE rowenta irons!!!

rowentas should be used with tap water. the spit and sputter is caused by the use of distilled water. this is according to manufactures advice.

I mix 1/2 distilled with 1/2 tap water.

I bought one in May, and it, too, says use only tap water...NOT distilled water as it leaves deposits in the water that clog the iron. I haven't had any trouble so far!

Although the use instructions for my Rowenta iron said to use tap water, it left a white powder residue so I switched to distilled water and have almost got all the residue worked out of my iron. :hunf:
