:!: They are actually coming out with a Dear Jane fabric line this fall. I can't remember which company is producing it. The fabrics are supposed to be identical to those used in the original Jane Stickle quilt. I can't wait! Dear Jane is on my to do list.

Cecilia, I found a Dear Jane Bundle of fabrics , I think they had 4 different colour choices in www.colonialcrafts.com. I bought a bundle of 20 fat 1/8ths for 25 dollars just to start me off and in case I didn´t like what I was doing thought it would be okay to start small.
They have loads of fabric and really nice quilt patterns. Happy hunting

I just took a natural plant dyeing course and one of the things I learned that adding iron to the dyes has a dulling or deadening effect on the colors. I was just wondering if anyone knows if originally, the fabrics from that era might have been home dyes in cast iron pots? Perhaps iron leached out and caused the muted colors characterizing civil war era fabrics. Just thinking and wondering?
