I have RLS now and then, not a chronic problem. I would suspect that it is multicausal - which is why some have pain, some respond to some things and others do not. I appreciate the tips. I know the potassium was helping me, but then I was getting just plain cramps all the time!

Great rug! Can't have rugs here due to tripping hazard (for me). I cut up flannel sheets for cleaning cloths and rags. However, for regular sheets, when the bottoms wear out, I use extra tops to make sheets for the twin bed and the rolloway bed (a twin bed). Have never bought new sheets for either. It's pretty easy to covert a top sheet into a fitted bottom on a smaller bed.

Have you tried putting a bar of soap between the sheets? I am serious, it really works for many people. Don't know why but it does. Especially using Ivory. It is worth a try. :-)

So, I keep 2-3 bars near my legs just in case one falls off. I'm sure someone will one day figure how why this works. I sure would like to know.

But, I have to say, it makes me wonder just who in the world thought about doing this in the first place. It is just plain weird! But, I don't mind...it helps!

Any certain brand of soap. I have read about this before. Very interesting.

Here is what my research has turned up about the RLS. All of us seem to have the same problem. All of us do the same thing. We all sit for hours sewing. I am guessing that it's the circulation in our legs that is not getting enough oxygen because of the sitting. This is a good example of a blind study.

I would suggest getting a timer and set it to get up every 20 minutes. Walk to the iron, get up to cut etc.

Follic acid 400-800 mcg per day was a "cure" for me.

About the sheet rug. It is really lovely. I once made a fabric rug but the little pieces that stuck out annoyed me to no ends. I don't seem to see any fraying on yours. What do you do to avoid that?
It helps to cut on the bias, I didn't do that on this one however and it did fray when I ripped the pieces, but I found that when I crocheted it, it seemed to be just fine.

Wow! I am so surprised how many are suffering from RLS. I don't have it near as bad as some of you. Thanks to you all for your tips. I will try the bar of soap thing. If it gets bad enough to try a pill, then I will keep these suggestions in mind. I wish the best to all you sufferers of this.

A few years ago my doctor prescribed "requip" for my restless leg syndrome & 99% of the time it works! Maybe you should talk to your doctor about it?

I buy tonic water with quinine included in the Grocery Market.
