I need some help from all you great quilters out there.I seen a picture of a pinwheel quilt that I would like to make, I know how to make pinwheels but my question is not knowing the size to make the plain block. if your pinwheel block finished is 6 in, what size would you cut your plain block

not sure what (plain block) you are talking about---
are you talking about each square you use to make the pinwheels?

I think the rule is: Take your non-bias side of the half square triangle and add 7/8" to it. So if your finished pinwheel is 6", then the starting blocks will be 6 7/8" before you cut them corner to corner. Okay someone correct me please if I am wrong. I would do a test one first and measure it. LOL

When you are talking pinwheels are you meaning those blocks that are dimensional? I saw a quilt here one time that was just stunning that had part of the pinwheel standing up and the other part sewn into a seam. I want to make one of those quilts for my grand daughter but I don't even know the name of it to search for directions. You are all so inspiring! I learn something new everyday! Thanks so much!
