Well I am up 1 lb and I think it is because I had several boullion drinks yesterday and I think there is too much salt in them. More water today to flush that out. For smoothies besides adding a banana I have been putting in pumpkin and the seasonings. It celebrates fall. Maybe tomorrow I will add apple instead of banana.

Steel Cut Oatmeal?? I read that this is better for weight loss but it sure takes a lot of time to fix in the morning. Some of you have mentioned putting oatmeal in a crock pot over night, what type of oatmeal are you using and what size crock pot. I live alone and do not want to cook a large amount. Any help will be appreciated.

Congrats to Missy on needing new bras. I hope to have the same need by early November. We have a great place here in New Jersey, the staff is very helpful with fitting and are accustomed to the larger woman.

Make it a great day!

I love steel cut oatmeal. I would make up a batch and keep the leftovers in the fridge. Cooks Illustrated recommends toasting the steel oats about 3 minutes. I do that and it tastes wonderful. My way of cooking them is 1 cup of oats, 3 cups water and 1 cup of milk. Since we have lots of apples I think I will slice apples to put in it as well. It tastes great the second day as well.

plainpat, as women, our weight fluctuates by several pounds even after our child bearing days are over. Some of us go up and down more than others. Have you recently increased your exercise? Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you've dropped some fat and gained muscle, the net result can be a slight weight gain while getting smaller and healthier. I don't have a goal weight. I have a goal size. When my smallest two pair of pants fit, I'm done. They are small 12s, which should happen between 140 and 143. Time will tell. Oh, oh, that just reminded me of my weight loss song.

Watch that you don't go too low on calories. Your body will hang on to everything if that happens and weight loss is stalled. I didn't lose weight last week when I was sick and I know my calorie count had to be very low.

Xylie, I picked up liquid chlorophyll at the nutritionist yesterday. I'll let you know if I drop any weight. He recommended it to help with the gallbladder. Inexpensive and healthy for a lot of reasons, so we'll see.

I AM losing weight and getting healthier.

Here's a site with recipe for single serving of steel cut oats. Also, try th hint from reviews & put them in fridge overnight, then all you do is heat in micro. Going to try that.

Read the recipe and it is very high calorie. I make my steel cut oatmeal by bringing it to a boil, shutting off the stove and leaving it covered overnight. Then turn it on in the morning and it cooks in much less time. I don't like milk, so I berries in the bowl add the hot oatmeal and sometimes, but not always a little nonfat yogurt. The combination seems to be sweet enough without sugar or honey. Sometimes I add cinamon just because I like it, but usually do that if I don't have any berries and I'm using raisins.

Hang in there! Losing is not an easy thing to do. Have you thought of journalling your food intake? What kind of exercising are you doing? You have definitely come to the right place for encouragement!!

I like your idea of bringing to a boil and then turning it off and reheating in the morning. Cook's Illustrated rated steel cut oatmeal and Bob's Red Mill Organic steel cut oatmeal was the most highly rated. I made mine today with sliced apple and I tossed in a teaspoon of ground flax seed. It was great. I use nonfat milk when I cook it but I have some almond milk I should try too.
