Seam rippers

I grew up using a razor blade for ripping long seams and the seam ripper for a stitch or two, but when I re-started quilting in the rotary cutter era I started using the rotary cutter and have not looked back. These look interesting, but I am apt to be able to find my rotary cutter in the sewing room than another tool :).

I wonder if an x-acto knife would work... with that the blade is small enough to control easily, plus it can be retracted for safety.
