I don't scan my fabrics into it. I find a thumbnail of the fabric online and import that. Much easier.

That's a great idea! Thanks for the tip, I often find fabrics of similar scale and color to insert instead.

How hard is it to learn this software? I have never used any of it so where would I start, with the EQ7?

If I can learn it any one can. Although I am still learning.

I have 5,6 and 7 and it does come with a book that has lessons to do, so if you follow them you should enjoy it. I have used it a lot to design and figure out yardage .

Same with me. Never used it. Our quilt store makes blocks using EQ7 for our Block of the Month and all the blocks are off in size. Everyone is frustrated.

Can you start out with the EQ7 or are you better off starting from the beginning, which seems like that would get expensive.

I have it and never use it because I haven't taken the time to learn but I do have a question. I know it figures yardage but does it tell you what size to cut your pieces including the 1/4" or is that asking way too much of the program and you need to figure it out for yourself? If it does, where do you find the instruction?

I bought mine from them at the same price. It was well worth the price. I have been very happy with what I hage been able to do with it.

What I have found is that it figures the size of the pieces including seam allowances within your blocks. It will give you templates to print with seam allowances; rotary cutting sizes; and if applicable paper piecing foundations with preview and print options. What sizes to cut borders, sashings, and the like you have to figure on your own. It also tells you approxiamately yardage used in a quilt to the nearest 1/8 of a yard.
