I just made my son a Stack and Whack. Haven't posted a pic because it's not finished. It's different...lol

My best friend is unusual to say the least. I made her quilt with each block being a different pattern. I put border blocks that were appliqued with different silhouettes (dolphins, fairies, her kids hand prints - all the things she likes) and then quilted it with glow in the dark thread, which took it over the top.

I have a Step daughter who has no use for the traditional quilt patterns. She did however fall in love with a wall hanging , which I gave her and is interested in my OBW. I just have to pin some fabric down and I can get started on her wedding quilt.

How about a scrap quilt. Check Bonnie Hunter's web site.

Look at Maple Island Quilts. All very contemporary and unusual.

Have you seen the website Glorious Color. Many designers like Kaffe Fassett using more modern style quilt fabrics. I think many of these quilts are timeless.

Definitely gorgeous - especially the watercolour ones with the curved templates - I think she calls them One Patch Plus.

How about Alicia Merrett - style free piecing using really bright solids? Here's her site http://www.aliciamerrett.co.uk/
and here's some videos on YouTube

I really like watercolor patterns, and have used cross-stitch patterns to make quilts with squares/HSTs
