What will be outlawed in 2012? Certain types of bulbs?

Yes, they're worth it! And I bought mine at Joanne's with a coupon too, although they regularly go on sale there.

My kids gave me an Ottlite for Christmas (will be 2yrs ago this yr.). I maybe put 20 hrs or less on it because I used it at night and I do not usually sew at night. I went to turn it on last week and it did not go on. I went to Jo-Ann's and bought a replacement bulb for $35.00. Put that in and it still didn't work. What??? Went back to the store and the guy proceeded to tell me I had to contact Ottlite since it was past their 90 day return policy. I ended up buying another lamp since they were on sale for 50% off and figured if I got the other one fixed I would have a lamp at both my embroidery machine and my sewing machine. I will keep the replacement bulbs for future use but have not contacted Ottlite yet. It may not be worth getting fixed, if indeed they even fix them. I know lots of people have had theirs for years but for mine to go out with less than 20 hrs on it was quite disheartening. Not sure why I bought another one other than I really did like the light it gave out, especially at night.

I agree. I have both, and there doesn't seem to be any difference. I bought a "daylight" floor lamp at Menards on Black Friday for $9.99 and have used it for years without needing to replace the bulb. It has a goose neck so I can bend it to highlight my machine, or my cutting board. You can buy the replacement lights for less (

You are right that it is the blub that is needed and not necessarily the whole lamp.

I have had the daylight Ott floor lamp for a few years, got addicted to it, but one day it just stopped working. Tried a new bulb in it but wouldn't work, so I assume the lamp is burned out. Has anyone else had any trouble with it? I want another one but even on sale, they're sorta high/ I'll have to have one tho this Winter when I get to quilting again.
Anyone know a good substitute?

I love my Ottlites. Not only do I see better but they are very effective with my "winter blues". I have not yet had to replace a bulb although I have had them quite awhile. I know other stores are starting to sell them so perhaps they sell the bulbs as well. Good luck!
