A dog sleeping on a crocheted "quilt"? How many hours that took and then to let the dog sleep on it??? Better be a very special dog. Crocheted or knitted items take even longer than quilts! As to the poor dear at the store--I've heard the thing about smile and nod but the best is "Bless your heart", when there is nothing else to say.

I didn't know you could buy crushed walnut shells at Pet Smart. Are they expensive?

Crushed walnut shells - very fine texture - it was about $11 for a lifetime supply. :) The pattern is in Spring 2009 Quilts and More. Designer Cindy Taylor Oates says the crushed shell filler keeps needle points sharp and pins from rusting.

You can find the filing in pet stores as reptile bedding. There were also small bags of various kinds of sand if you would prefer sand.

The clerk was not blonde. :)

I remember that ad about the toilet paper but I think I only saw it when they were actually quilting - or maybe I wasn't paying that much attention. I usually run off to do something else when the commercials come on.

I had to laugh at all those little cartoon ladies knitting away on something being advertised as quilted. They must have gotten a lot of mail about it because it was only a couple of weeks before all of those little ladies had exchanged their knitting needles for a needle and thread...hahaha!!

I could just kidnap your avatar. So cute, I love tuxedos.
I noticed both of your cute avatar kitties! My daughter has a Tuxedo cat, Minty, and years ago we had one named Puss-in-boots.
I remember that commercial,,,in fact,I called the company and griped! They said they had received many calls and sent me a coupon for tp! LOL!

She was a really nice young girl - just totally no clue. It really threw me that she had no idea what a pincushion was.
I bet when she heard "pincushion" she thought it was a nice little tuffet for your safety pins to sleep on. Too funny.
