Usually the only time I wash a quilt that is given away is those for kids. Otherwise, I like the crispness of the fabric, newly quilted.

I always used to wash baby quilts in baby-friendly detergent before I gave them away, partly because I wanted the new parents to see first-hand that washing them wouldn't hurt them! Also for the look. Then my niece said she'd like to see it first all crispy and new, so now I ask first how they'd prefer it.

I do this too, and my last project was the proof, that this is a good idea for me. (Table runner seams opened.)

I always prewash my fabrics. But I never wash the quilt before I give it away. In fact, I had never heard of doing this prior to reading about it on this board.

Yes i do even tho prewashed as it helps to resolve any stretched out areas, especially since I only do QAYG:)

i wash all my fabric & i wash the quilt b4 i give it away..not only because i love the comfy look of a rumpled quilt, but since i have allergies, i try to be sensitive to other people who might...

wash in tide free w/downy free...
