I love all of the suggestions you all have given me. I now have some ideas of what to do with my corduroy stash. I remember my mom using it in crazy patch pillow covers and I did not want to do just that with it, so now I know I can make quilts out of it too. Great! Thanks to you ladies.

The first quilt I ever made was 3/5" pieces of corduroy--we called it a postcard quilt. One of my girls needed a cover for her bed. That quilt lasted "forever" --although I had to zig-zag some of the seams over the years. I didn't even know you should have all the same weight fabrics and it didn't make any difference. Granted, this was truly a utilitarian quilt but a much loved one, just the same. I had not thought about that quilt in years. That daughter is in her early 50's now.

I used corduroy scraps in a raggy quilt with denim. was very heavy, but used it as a car quilt. Don't need any batting.

It can be used in a baby or child's blanket because it has such a different texture and kids love that. A pattern using some corduroy, some flannel and some cotton gives 3 different and distinct textures. Little kids are all about exploring the world they're in!

Many years ago my mon made a bow knot quilt out of corduroy. It was a beautiful quilt and the one we all wanted when she passed.

I use it for the bottom part of tote bags. Its pretty tough stuff , takes lots of wear , so I use it where ever I need a really sturdy fabric. It also makes a good backing for potholders, or good insides of potholders as well ( use two layers right side together, so the texture does not "come through".)

Cut 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 "bricks", then sew them into a basket weave pattern. And I do use batting and quilt with yarn in 1/2" stitches. I have two made this way. They are fantastic for covers. One is backed with red flannel, the other is a cotton weight backing.

I made a big corduroy quilt for a friend using 8 or 9 inch squares. For a bit of interest I did a few rail fence squares as well. I did both sides as squares and tied it at the intersection of the squares.

With the scraps left over I made pillows using random length and width strips.
