I would be calling the nearest quiting store to see if they had a group I could meet with and would someone loan a machine. I am with you start having withdrawals and it does not take me long. Have a wonderful time and happy stitches I hope.

Took a trip to Albuquerque recently to see our son and daughter-in-law. Not only did I take my machine, but also my large cutting mat and all the essentials. I was able to sew and quilt while they were at work and DH was watching tv. She had some curtains that needed hemming and a quilt to bind. DH says there should be a sign on my machine that says "Don't leave home without it". Lol

Whenever I trave the front floorboard of the car has books, magazines, and projects (hand type) that go with me. If I am flying which I recently did, I found I had packed 3 books in the suitcase and 2 in the carry on as well as the crazy quilt squares I am working on. After all I was gone 10 days!:)

Sounds like a fun time and you may be surprised that you are to busy to sew. Well maybe!
This is why we have Featherweights.

Many, many years ago my husband had to be in Oak Ridge, TN for a week. We decided to drive and I decided to take my full-size sewing machine and a small quilting project. I set up in the motel room. Didn't have the car but, as we industrius seamstresses often do, I found a Joanne's within walking distance. Yea!!! That was the most fun that I had on a business trip with my DH and we went to many places. Thousand Oaks, CA, La Vegas, NV, Washington, D.C. just to name a few and there was nothing like that trip to Oak Ridge. Ahhhh. Sweet memories. Have a great time and show us what you accomplished when you get back. Yolanda Wood River

Smaller sewing machines can be hidden in suitcases quite easily. Ask me how I know! :D

    Not to worry!
We often go to the beach with another family and I have been considering asking her if we should bring a sewing machine.
She never has time to quilt and might enjoy us working together.
    I ALWAYS bring hand quilting.
I am not much in to TV so quilting allows me to be with everyone, talk, listen and keep my hands busy.
Family assumes I will be dragging a quilt bag with me wherever.
I even quilt while on the road, as a passenger, of course!
    :)
