Western Long Island got a heavy dusting - I'm on Eastern Long Island where we just got a fierce nor'easter! Hope everyone is safe and warm!

I had gone out with my broom and tried to knock or brush some off (22 trees), took be about 1-1/2 hour. (Unfortunately, DH had falled on Friday and has a badly sprained ankle. He is still hobbling.) I was soaked to the skin, could actually wring my gloves, my jeans soaked from jacket down. We were with power for five hours (no football, no quilting, no hot tea). We got about 8".

The bad thing about the weight of the snow, is that the trees have not dropped their leaves. Many of our farmers have corn standing waiting for the kernels to dry enough to be harvested (for animal feed). If taken in too soon they will mold. Today we are melting.
Same story here in Western Pennsylvania, Suz - with one exception. We only got a couple of inches so the trees are OK although many of them bent pretty badly. Corn fields are still up and the deer are having a field day!

I've heard you were getting dumped on back there, we have only gotten our first snow today, and it's only an inch or so. Haven't looked in the forecast for what is to come...

That's too bad seems way toooooooo early. We had trick or treating today and the kids were doing it in a cold rain. But it didn't stop them, thank goodness. So much fun seeing the little ones.

I lived in Ohio for 20 years, moved to Southern California to get out of the bad winters. Today it was 91 degrees. I feel sorry for all of you. Stay safe and stay warm.
