Glad you were able to make it look so lovely. Bet it was put in a cedar chest for storage. That can cause those stains. I am glad you were able to see past the stains to the thing of beauty that this is.

I filled the washing machine with lukewarm water and detergent and 4 scoops of Oxi-clean. I soaked it overnight...about 8 hours...then let it finish running through the gentle cycle and then dried on low heat in the dryer.
