My baby charities, "Faith, Hope and Charity Stitches, Inc." and "Resource Mothers" use good quality flannel to make receiving blankets; shirts, kimonos, small stuffed toys, etc. If there are large enough scraps, we also incorporate them into quilt squares.
Yes, by all means, before sewing, WASH IT!

    Good find! Good luck.

Love all the suggestions! I'd use it to back quilts for kids and babies! My grandson loves his. Are you thinking of selling any of it?

I've begun a couple years back making quilts for my family and using 100% cotton - and then one requested knowing hers was next, if i'd use a flannel back on hers - it is warmer to the touch when you are cold or sick -or/?? So, I began using the flannel backing on all my quilts now and everyone now wants flannel on the backs of theirs!

So, just a suggestion - use it for backs and especially on baby quilts; so soft and cuddly - and 199 yards of backing can go fast when you use it that way if you make a lot of quilts...

OOOH! I own the most wonderful quilt (purchased it cheaply when a deparment store---remember those?---went out of business.) We are always fighting over the flannel quilt. The quilting is not the best....but it is WARM!!!! I would die to make another one!! I have not ever worked with flannel,,,but this quilt is worth any and all hassles that you would ever run into.
If you are interested in selling any of the above flannel so that I can make another flannel quilt, PLEASE PM me. I would be very interested and would be willing to pay shipping. Good Luck with the quilt idea...you will not be sorry as far as warmth goes. Michigan gets cold and we do turn down our heat to save expenses.
