I work in a nursing home and most of the residents are like family. They just want attention and a hug now and then. Most times they just want to visit. There are days I just want to sit and take them in my arms and hold them. some can talk, others can't. They need others to give them a reason to smile.
When I took the job it frightened me to be around them, but it didn't take me long to fall in love with them.

What a wonderful tradition for your family to establish. I am inspired to go and see what is available around here. Thank you for sharing.
