Hi!
I just put a Husqvarna Embroidery machine on lay-away. I plan on getting it out as soon as possible so I can start taking classes to learn how to use it. I know nothing about applique, but I think this machine will help me even more.
I'd love to chat with you'll about anything pretaining to applique.
Stephanie

Eons ago I did applique for my DD clothes I made. I enjoyed it then, have not attempted any since waaaay back then. I have some projects in waiting that could benefit from a little more expertise on the subject. Count me in, as a pupil!!

I like the look of applique... I to do the raw edge machine style. I always end up hand quilting each design in the end... I have been playing with the minky and cuddle soft fabrics and baby quilts

I iron down the fold I will need to make the point before I start the stitching down process. At the very least, you will have a guideline, following the ironed fold- and are not so likely to get lost,

Nice to see you here CraftyBear
To practice reverse applique, take a piece of fabric and cut a hole or slit in it. Clip all the edges 1/4 inch in to make a seam allowance, and turn them under using the same steam a seam technique you have been using.

Good for you! I saw some interesting appliques in the International Quilt Festival, that looked like they were fused perhaps using a technique like you describe, then the edges were machine stitched using variable widths of satin stitching.
